2D Barcode Scanners and Imagers
L-Tron's 2D barcode scanners can be connected to a computer or POS terminal via a variety of interfaces, including USB and RS-232 serial. L-Tron provides standard-range, special-focus and high-density 2D barcode scanners, as well as Bluetooth and wireless scanning options.
L-Tron barcode scanners are typically delivered in bundled kits, which include a scanner, appropriate interface cable and an AC power supply if required by the particular interface. L-Tron supplies products of the industry's leading manufacturers, including Honeywell (Hand Held Products), Motorola (Symbol Technologies) and Datalogic.

Two-dimensional (2D) barcodes store data across both the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the imprinted pattern, resulting in the capacity to store significantly more information than can linear (1D) barcodes, and are thus typically used for applications in which a large amount of data must be contained in a minimal barcode footprint.
2D scanners utilize area-imaging technology with built-in barcode illumination and contain no moving parts. 2D scanners can read all types, sizes and colors of bar codes, including linear and PDF-417, and also have the ability to read barcodes omni-directionally (at all angles) from any scanning distance. Law-Enforcement agencies often use 2D scanners to read PDF-417 barcodes on driver's licenses, allowing Officers to quickly and efficiently manage traffic stops. Newer 2D scanner models offer distinct advantages at the point of sale (POS); for example, they can be used omni-directionally, in hand-held mode, or mounted in a stationary stand.
In the industrial arena, 2D scanners are used on the manufacturing line, in the warehouse and for logistics and asset management. Additionally, vehicle registration, state elections and signature capture are ideal applications for a 2D scanner solution.
