LCD and Touchscreen Monitors
L-Tron's point-of-sale (POS) displays offer a range of options, including customer view, cashier view, touch screen and more. Customer-facing displays usually provide two rows of text, each twenty characters wide. These 2x20 customer displays are available in desktop and pole-mounted versions, although the pole displays are far more common. Pole displays connect to a PC via USB or Serial Port and allow the customer to view items as they are entered. They can also be programmed to display promotional messages when not in active use.
Employee-facing displays are almost exclusively LCD flat-panel monitors (FPM); either standard monitors used in conjunction with a keyboard and mouse, or touch-screen monitors that allow the user to interact with the POS system by simply touching the display. POS systems can also integrate a keyboard, mouse and touch screen for simultaneous use.

With today's technological advances, there are numerous touchscreen options available, but the most commonly used are resistive, capacitive, infrared, surface acoustic wave and acoustic pulse recognition. Because touchscreen monitors function as input devices as well as displays, they require two connections to the POS system. The touch portion essentially functions as a mouse and requires a USB or Serial connection to the host.
Emerging technologies in digital signage have further expanded the utility of the common monitor, displaying video programming, menus, information, advertising and other messages. Digital signage is quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of communication in both public and private arenas and is easily updated.
L-Tron supplies industry-leading products from Advantech, Elo, Posiflex and Miracle.
