MICR Check Readers
Check Readers, both MICR and optical, are an important tool for financial institutions, Point of Sale (POS) and retail payment processing.
MICR is an acronym for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. Similar to a barcode, it can be read by both machines and humans. Routing and account information is encoded and can be used not only for processing checks, but also for authorizing checks at the POS to prevent fraud and NSF returns.
Check imagers can eliminate the need to physically deposit most checks, sending an electronic image instead of the actual check.
