L-Tron's Point of Sale (POS) displays offer users many options, including customer view, cashier view, touch screen and more. Customer facing displays are usually two rows of text, each twenty characters wide. 2x20 customer displays are available in desktop and pole mounted varieties, although the pole displays are much more common. Pole displays connect to a PC via USB or Serial Port. They allow the customer to view items as they are entered, and can also be used to display promotional messages when not in active use. Employee facing displays are almost exclusively LCD flat panel monitors. They can be standard monitors used in conjunction with a keyboard and mouse, or touch screen monitors. A touch screen monitor allows the user to interact with their POS system by touching the display instead of using a mouse. A POS system can also use keyboard, mouse and touch screen simultaneously. With today's technological advances, there are numerous touch screen technologies available. The most commonly used are resistive, capacitive, infrared, surface acoustic wave and acoustic pulse recognition. Since touch screen monitors are functioning as an input device as well as a display, they require two connections to the POS system. The touch portion essentially functions as a mouse and requires a USB or Serial connection to the host. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and will gladly provide post-purchase support regarding connections to you POS system. Please contact us today.
