AAMVA has developed specifications for Vehicle registration, ID Cards and driver’s licenses that have been adopted by most States. The resulting documents contain machine readable information.
This has created opportunities for automation to improve the accuracy of and efficiency in generating vehicle accident reports, performing roadside truck inspections, issuing traffic citations, and measuring and managing vehicle emission data.

These applications are demanding and require devices that are optimized for reading the AAMVA 2D barcodes. L-Tron has researched the market, and works with a variety of hardware manufacturers to optimize imaging scanners and devices so that they excel in reading these documents, and are also suitable for in vehicle and road side environments.
