UDAS 1001
Intelligent Instrumentation's family of UDAS Systems were designed with
portability and ease-of-use in mind. They communicate with PCs and other
computers through the Universal Serial Bus (USB), providing a convenient
alternative to plug-in data acquisition boards. This popular new bus supports a
wide range of peripherals, from keyboards and printers to digital cameras and
data acquisition systems.
Up
to 127 devices can communicate with the PC simultaneously through the same USB
port. The bus allows hot-swappable, true plug-and-play operation, where the PC
autodetects the addition or removal of any USB device. Therefore, you don't have
to worry about IRQ settings, DMA settings, I/O addresses, or any other
configuration prior to using one of these data acquisition systems. Simply plug
it into your PC and start acquiring data!

Analog I/O
Multifunction USB data
acquisition systems can be configured for 16 single-ended or for 8 differential
analog input channels through software. A software programmable gain
instrumentation amplifier is included to extend the measurement range. Gains of
1, 10, and 100 are provided. Full-scale analog input voltage ranges of 0-10 V,
+/-10 V, and +/-5 V are also programmable through software.
Selected units are also equipped with two analog output
channels. They provide voltage outputs at 12-bit resolution with a +/-10 V
output range.
Two rate generators are provided, one
for pacing analog input acquisitions, and one for pacing analog outputs. The
timebase for the rate signal is derived from an internal crystal oscillator,
allowing rates from 0.5 Hz to 100 kHz to be programmed.
Digital I/O
Multifunction UDAS systems provide 16 TTL-compatible digital I/O channels,
configurable through software as inputs or outputs in groups of 8. All inputs
and outputs are protected from damage under power on or power off conditions.
High-Speed Counter
Multifunction UDAS systems also include one 32-bit high-speed counter channel.
This counter can perform high-speed event counting on TTL level signals up to 10
MHz. Additionally, the counter can perform direct frequency measurements
Power
Power to the UDAS is provided from the PC through the USB port, so you don’t
need to worry about finding an AC power outlet or using a battery. An external
power option is available for powering systems with high power requirements (for
instance, a system which drives a large number of digital outputs or employs
many signal conditioning modules).
Communications
UDAS units employ high-speed serial communication with error-checking to
transfer data to the PC, providing data rates not possible on traditional serial
ports. This method guarantees that all data will be transferred to the PC at the
USB data acquisition system's full sampling speed.
