A Chat with RAD: Launching L-TronDirect.com

Earlier this month, I had a chance to sit down with RAD DeRose, the President and CEO of L-Tron Corporation, to talk about L-Tron’s new and improved web store.  This is part one of the interview.

Here’s what RAD had to say…

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about the history of L-Tron’s web store?

A: L-Tron was founded in 1975.  We published our first website in April 1997 and our first e-commerce site in 1999.  In November 2005, we did our first overhaul of the e-commerce platform.  Early in 2011, we began to develop the requirements for a complete redesign of our web store, so that our customers could browse our data collection systems, industrial computersbarcode scanners and other cutting-edge technology with ease.  After more than a year of planning and countless hours of hard work,                L-TronDirect 3.0 went live on August 30, 2012 at 6PM EDT.

Q: Why did you decide to redevelop L-TronDirect.com?

A: Simply put, our focus at L-Tron is on the customer, helping them to develop solutions and find the information they need to make a buying decision that will provide the greatest value.  With that in mind, we wanted to be sure that our e-commerce platform is easy to use, offers streamlined navigation, and has a modern look and feel.  We knew it was time for an upgrade to 2012 standards, so we began a complete redesign.  We used best practices and attributes from the most popular websites, regardless of industry, and incorporated them into our design.  We wanted to provide information at our customers’ fingertips, including experts available online for chat, by phone, by email, or even in person.

Q: Who do you feel will benefit most from the new web store?

A: The new store is designed around our clients and their experiences with L-Tron, our solutions and our vendors.  This approach benefits everyone.  From data collection systems and mobile computers to industrial computers and barcode scanners, we have what our customers need.  Our focus on the customers and their profitability results in repeat buyers and creates long-term relationships.  We are always looking for new ways to add value for our customers and L-TronDirect 3.0 is one of the integral parts of the value chain we supply.
