Zebra Technologies: A Global Leader, Focused on the Customer, Focused on the Future

Zebra TechnologiesIn an era when financial news is too often focused on negatives, it has been refreshing to follow Zebra Technologies as it has bucked that trend so prominently.  The L-Tron team takes great pride in its remarkable roster of technology partners, not least among which is Zebra.  Simply put, its backing positions us to deliver world-class, custom-tailored solutions to meet our clients’ ever-evolving logistical challenges.

Zebra was recently featured in Medill Reports, a financial-reporting project of Northwestern University.  The article notes that Zebra Technologies’ 2012 earnings beat Wall Street expectations, with analysts anticipating that 2013 will see even better performance, due in part to its favorable position for meeting developing demands for retail point-of-sale solutions and for equipping customers with technologies that support Internet-of-Things implementation.

Indeed, Zebra earned its status as market leader by maintaining a broad, responsive, customer-focused vision of its role.  Speaking extemporaneously in response to questions he received at JPMorgan’s recent Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Anders Gustafsson, Zebra’s CEO, described Zebra as follows:

“People know us as a specialty printing company. We are a leader in the auto-ID industry or the barcode industry.  It’s about a $3-billion market, and we have between 30 to 40 percent of that market.  It’s a strong position, [allowing us] to gain share and extend our leadership over the last few years.  But when we think about what we actually do for our customers, [it’s] the value we offer them … how we help them.  [We] enable our customers to increase visibility in their operations, and we do that by providing a digital, virtual voice to their most important assets, people or transactions.  That voice can be in the form of a barcode, passive RFID, active RFID, or other type of sensor technology.  But once they have that voice, those assets can communicate something about themselves: what they are, where they are, their condition … customers can then make smarter, more informed business decisions.”

Zebra’s customer-focused philosophy compliments that of L-Tron, making our partnership an exceptional fit, while Zebra’s focus on the future and on anticipating customer needs prepares L-Tron well helping customers deploy such emerging technologies as cutting-edge point-of-sale solutions.
